Taking care in the time of COVID-19

What a time we live in right now!  It's unpredictable, scary, new and uncharted for most of us.  The thought of the word "pandemic" will trigger us in many different ways.  First, I want to say that it's ok to feel all you're feeling right now. Be gentle on yourself and your family as we navigate this difficult time.  This is a time of collective vulnerability for most and self care is going to be important.  It is understandable if you are feeling anxious and worried at the moment and you may have some very difficult challenges to negotiate.    In addition to the CDC and WHO recommendations, I have linked some mental health resources while we face the COVID-19 pandemic together.  Stay safe.

Find Balance

"When we are struggling with anxiety and worry, we can lose touch with things that used to give us pleasure. Plan to do some activities each day that are pleasurable and make you feel joyful."  Tools such as mindfulness and compassion can help re-center oneself.

Parenting

Parenting during this challenging time will exercise most of our coping skills as adults.  Here is an online resource to support parents during this unpredictable time.  Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) is offering  online programs such as webinars, classes and resources.  Emerging Minds from the UK has put together a helpful guide for parents and guardians.
